TENNIS SHORTS : boxers? >>> H Holbrook queries: Do other young male tennis players play tennis inNow I must admit I'm NOT a male, but I AM the mom of two males,currently 19 and 23, who belonged to the gangsta rap soccer team inhigh school in a community that was both upscale and a military one. Iwould venture that half the team didn't wear any type of supportiveundergarments while playing since you could see the tops of theirboxers. In my case one son DID wear compression shorts when playing.The other let "it all hang out" so to say. To my way of thinking thiswasn't a good thing and we had several "discussions" regarding thematter. He informed me that jock straps/compression shorts and briefswere too confining and interfered with his speed and manueverability.To my old-fashioned way of thinking, not wearing supportiveundergarments in tennis is not a good thing, not wearing them whenplaying soccer is asking for trouble. But then again what do us olddinosaurs know any way? The kids have all the answers, LOL!!
TENNIS SHORTS : I've got a pair of Prince shorts that I really like because they'reextremely comfortable it's very easy to get the balls in and out of thepockets. The reason for both, I suspect, is that the fabric is the usualblend of polyester and cotton plus 6% Lycra. It's also very thinmaterial, so they're reasonably cool and they dry fairly quickly.Does anyone have any pointers to similar tennis shorts? As often as Iwear these they won't last much longer."Le Coque Sportif" makes pretty comfortable sport shorts, I have many pairsand like them a lot for all kinds of sports. Not sure why they name theirclothes line after a "sporty chicken" :-)Nike has a large assortment of shorts. The ones I like are made ofsomething called microfibre, so they are very light, and they dry veryquickly. In general, Nike has the best tennis clothes nowadays, and theyare fairly easy to find in North America. For somewhat moreaesthetically pleasing tenniswear, turn to the Italian companies, Lotto,Sergio Tacchini and Fila.
TENNIS SHORTS : Not trying to bring down the standard of r.s.s. but I bought this pair ofReebok shorts and it has built in underwear. Since there is a zipper fly, theunderwear part has a slit al the way up the front. Wearing it is like wearingone of theose urological drapes. First I wore a regular pair of briefs and itfelt uncomfortable. Then I removed them and had my privates packed down. But asI went up for an overhead I felt my best friend slip out of the integralunderwear and flop around.Most annoying pair of shorts especially for 24 bucks.The shorts are designed by a gay designer, who designed it to functionjust the way you described it! Come to think of it, I won't mind ifthe Reebok shorts get popular w/ the likes of Jan Michael Gambill,Moya, etc. I'm praying that soon those baggy pants a la Sampras andAgassi will become passe, and short-shorts like the ones Edberg usedto wear will be popular again. As for me, I'm looking around for thatblood red skirt Steffi wore at the US Open against Schnyder.
TENNIS SHORTS : The spate of Martina fantasy postings, recalls two stories I wrote some time ago. One is about tennis, one is not. MaryJo and Linda had not fully formed their friendship or their love of tennis until one day when they were eight years old and playing in Linda's living room one rainy day. An errant backhand from Linda's wooden racquet sent a fuzzy Wilson 6 slicing into an heirloom lamp. No genie popped out. But Mrs. Mohair did, materializing instantly from the kitchen with a two-handed grip on a long wooden hairbrush. Linda was crying before her mother had laid a hand on her and quickly found herself flipped, toddyside up, over mom's jeans, her shorts and panties swooshed down together to present a bare and inviting baseline for a volley of hard overhand smashes. MaryJo, who had been ordered to stand still and wait, had no idea what would unfold next, but she was scared. "It was an accident, it was an accident," the wretched girl screamed as she pussywiggled over her mother's lap.
