The neck gaitor pulls up over my noseand mouth for the first couple miles. Then I let it slipdown to my chin.Nah...it's just a matter of what you are comfortable in. Anythingabove 30-35, I wear shorts. I have a friend who wears tightsand sweatshirts well into the 50's. I think my naturalinsulation warms me up :).Do the same with my balaclava. It's really only my lower lip that gets the windboth coming in and out of my mouth.
SUMMER SHORTS : I just like to run warm. Seems to help me prevent injuries to chilled ligamentsand joints. But when I see those little ladies out there in shorts when I'm allbundled up I feel like an old grandpa...This is a frequent topic but one that is repeated because it isimportant for your health.In the winter wear clothing that you won't sweat too much in and thatwill keep you warm. It is important to note that running generatesheat, more in some than in others. Overdressing can cause you to becold just as easily as underdressing can. If you get done from runningand wonder why you are cold when your clothing is soaked you've overdressed. It is best to dress in light layers that you can take off ifyou get too hot. Many swear by synthetic fabrics (polypropylene) butI'm able to do fine with light layers of cotton long sleve shirts.You'll really need to experiment to find out what works for you. Justbe sure that you can warm up after you finish (getting in a warmbuilding) in case your experiment doesn't work.
SUMMER SHORTS : Most importantly keep your penis warm! As others, and I will attest ithurts like a son of a bitch when it thaws. This has happened to metwice when I was wearing shorts when it was too cold. I wear shortsunder my running tights and that has kept me warm down to 15 degreesF. Below that I have extra thick running tights. And even a pair ofnylon pants when the wind blows extra hard.In the rain: depends on the temperature. Warm summer rain who cares! Ijust put on a baseball hat to keep the rain out of my eyes. Coolspring rain is a different story. You'll keep warm as long as you keeprunning. It is after that I worry about. At the very least I'll have afull change of warm clothing waiting for me. If that isn't enough Iget into my car and throw the heat on. If I'm finishing up at homeI'll jump into the shower.I run at 2-3am in the nude. It makes me run faster - especially back to thewarmth. I live in the country, so I hardly run across anyone. Sometimes acar or two.
