For underneath I found a pair of Mizuno baseball sliding shorts.These are again lightweight, moisture wicking, very light padding onhips and butt, but most importantlyhave a cup pouch that keeps the fella protected without binding me whenrunning or squatting behind a bunker. SLIDING SHORTS : I've decided I need to get a cup for paintball.I was looking around, and there are both soft cups (for soccer,basketball,wrestling, etc.) and hard cups(for baseball,football, hockey, etc.). Thesoft cups look like they would be a lot more comfortable. I wanted to konwif any of you use soft cups in the field. And how well do they protect. Trust me on that!i've been using this method for a long, long time. and on the rareoccasions i take one in the cods, it does the job quite well, and neverever pinches or gets in the way when i slide, crawl, etc.more specifically, i just wear a pair of plain od green BDU's (which asa design, hang slightly baggy in the crotch anyway). wear a pair ofbike shorts (like the tight supportive sort) underneath, which is wherethe sock(s) go. tuck 'em between the legs, wad 'em up, bring the top ofthe sock to the waistband to secure in place.

I was thumbing through some medical magazines and cameupon an article written by a sport medicine specialist.He didn't think much of the soft cups and related a story about a 5th gradeboy who was an avid soccer player. The boy had complained about the hard cupbeing uncomfortable, so his father bought him a soft cup. Several weekslater, the boy, was hit in the groin with a soccer ball. It badly crushedone of his testicles and it had to be surgically removed.Now think about this a soccer ball is softer and moving at substantiallyless velocity than a paint ball.
