Try 3days a week of basic compound exercises like squats, deadlifts, rows,presses, etc. instead.They hurt because you're seriously overtraining and beating the crap out ofthem.Go buy yourself a copy of Brawn by Stuart McRobert. I believe that helimited his workouts to 30-40 minutes each. This is still quite a lot oftotal volume per week, but he did quite well with it. SHORTS PICS : I can't see what can be wrong with a 6 day split, except that there is atemptation to do more than is good for you. If you have the self control tolimit the volume on each day, I believe that a 6 day split might be betterthan the same volume over 3 or 4 days.I disagree. The reason why I though 6 days was better, is that you couldbe fresh for each workout and less tired after each workout.How would you be fresh for each workout if you have only one rest day? Ifyou were fresh for day 2, then day 1 wasn't a good workout. And if you areless tired after a workout, then maybe you didn't work hard enough. Iworkout 3 days a week using a split routine and I am never in the gym morethan 1 hour, usually closer to 45 minutes. More is not always better. Theonly way I would be in the gym longer than one hour is if I did cardio afterlifting. But that is rare, because I prefer riding my bike outside.
