Moutnainbiking is one of my passions, and I have no regrets in buying a really sweetpeice bike... but then again, if I'm not sewing I'm on the singletrack.If you are not wearing a padded short, yes, that could definitely be aproblem. I use a stretch and sew pattern, and I make my chamois out ofpolartec and ultra suede. It could also be your saddle, and it could be justbeing saddle sore from not riding enough miles.I haven't bought bike shorts in years.Naw, I wasn't. Thought about buying a pair and decided I ought to atleast take one ride first. Let's see, first thingI ever sewed on it was a skkirt to wear to a middle school Christmasdance so that would make it at least 12 years old. It was bottom of theline then, I've never had it serviced. I used my mother's Pfaff for manyof those 12 years, and I'm now putting in about 5 hours a week on it(give ot take) and it is behaving fine. Not great but acceptable. SHORTS MEN : Nope!Plastic all the way, plus it only does forward, back, and variants ofzigzag. Ya'll are making feel like I need a better machine. My greatgreat aunt Charlotte has offered me her old machine, I'll have to checkit out this weekend. My mother has (in addition to all her machines) mygrandmother's old one, a treadle converted to electric that has sincefailed, needs to be a treadle again. I have a treadle base as a table,Christmas gift from the boyfriend, someday I'll have to unite the two.At the moment my apartment is just too small, and the sewing machine sofar away that I just can't do that.Talked to the boyfriend about a "hardtail" bicycle... Didn't call itthat, called it stiffback or something like that and he corrected me.Anyway, he said that it would be nice and that someday he might put afront shock on "Rosebud" but that it's an added vulnerability. He claimsthat gaskets can blow and if that were to happen in a race he'd befinished. He says that folks with shocks eke out seconds on him in thedownhill stretches but he makes up minutes on the uphills.
