MUAY THAI SHORTS : Not at my club, or any other club I've heard of/been to/fought against.I'll tell you this. The guy is probably full of it. Although Muay Thaidoes follow a "rank" system. I don't know a whole lot about it but I doknow that they wear colored arm bands to represent their rank. They don'tcall them "arm bands" though. Forgot the word. Anyway, you can go to mykickboxing page and follow the links. There are a few really good muaythai links there. If you can't find them on those pages then you can atleast email the people that run them.I will put a Muay Thai section in my Web page in the near future. It willcover things like this and also info such as who are the most popular MuayThai fighters, etc. Truthfully those bands around the arms of Thai fighters in Thailand havenothing to do with rank. They are much like the headpieces(mongkhon) thatare worn into the ring and during the rammuay. I have seen fighters asyoung as 11 or perhaps younger wearing them in fights in Thailand.However, these arm bands do establish the fact that the fighter is welltrained being that the arm bands cannot really be bought like a pair ofmuay thai shorts but most of the time are handed down by family, trainer,or friend.

MUAY THAI SHORTS : Last week I was invited to a boxing night near our village, by the Paw Luangand one of his friends. When we ot there, it was a complete little fair, andgangs of fun, among the stalls selling local produce and things made in thelocal villages.In one corner, a boxing ring was set up and I wandered over with my son andhis 2 friends. In the ring for the first fight was a pair of 11 yr oldpugilists just getting into the swing of it so to speak with windmillingarms adn legs going left right and center. The Red corner was filled theyounger brotther of my sons friend from the village.Naturally we barracked loudly for him, as his opponent was from anothervillage.At the end of 3 rounds, they had spent half their time between the ropes andthe floor in clinches which apparently prevent blows from landing.I have no knowledge ofthe Bangkok boxing, nor even much about the CM boxing,but it was interesting to watch my son licking his lips and thumping the airwhen a hit landed.
