LYCRA SHORTS : I also wear hand-me-down gloves now. It was the only way I could makemyself wear gloves since my hands get so hot. The hander-down askedme before a ride how they were doing. I simply said, "They're nice...a lot like shorts." A woman overhearing it asked what the heck I could mean that *gloves* were like *shorts*. :-) From a spin-off of the thread, I often wear t-shirts, but I reallylike the pockets in the back of jerseys for things like a camera,bandana/handkerchief, etc. This weekend I went on one of the MS150rides and at lunch wished I'd had a jersey on to stick various lunchitems in while standing in line. Oops. I've been taking a lot of grief this year for begging friendswho were sagging on Mt. Mitchell to be at the Marion lunchtime reststop with a Big Mac and fries. Boy, were they good! And yes, theywere still good when I got to the top. :-)Hmmm... I wonder how well a Big Mac would last in a jersey pocket... :-)On the other hand, I find that after a couple of hours on my bike thatthere's not a lot to see anyway... Luckily I seem to naturallydecompress after a while. :-)
LYCRA SHORTS : I think if you wear underwear, you are losing most of the benefits of theshorts. That is you get chafed like you said. (I suspect it's purely psychosomatic, however.)I don't have any problem with chafing, however; then again, my underweartends to be of the sock or thong variety, so there aren't many seamsto be wedged up where the sun don't shine.I really like Lycra shorts and tights -- and with a "biking brief", anypair of tights can be converted for biking. Why do I like them? They'remore comfortable to ride in, and, (I confess yet again) I get a realbang out of shocking the mundanes.Nope, nothing under my cycling shorts. Except the usual that is ;o). Nounderwear. No extra seams, no 'bits up yer bum', and no VPL (not that Iregularly wear panties ;o). Just pure, unadulterated lyrca-on-skin.
LYCRA SHORTS : Seriously tho', I can't imagine wearing anything under them. It's just notcricket! Oh, that's right, it isn't .....When I'm just riding, I wear an old pair of 'short' shorts under regularbaggies on my MtB and a sweatshirt or t-shirt. One or two long trips with jockey shorts and thosebulky leg bands convinced me.I find it often depends on the air temperature ouside. It's got to the stagewhere my wife can tell if she needs to wrap up on her way out or not ;o)

Gosh, this is so embarassing, I feel like I'm actually standing infront of you in my....Lycra Shorts!!Yes, you will notice panty lines...I have tried both ways and I have noproblems when I wear my lovely lady hanes (variety of lovely colors...)whereas I had some, well, discomfort without. I think for some women, it isan issue of reproductive-parts-maintenance.Well Cha Cha and Jane-- there have been other women posting on this thread,(unless Jennifer is a common name for guys in the part of the world whereyou live :) ) And as for undies with lycra shorts-- that pretty muchblows the whole concept of wearing the garment.
