LINEN SHORTS : don't iron them, then they're uniformly wrinkled & the sitting wrinkles don't show up. anyone know where lightweight overalls can be found? i don't wear shorts & i'm expecting in (ugg) August... LINEN SHORTS : Ok I just spent like $50 on some nice padded bike shorts and where thepadding meets the lycra it rubbing me raw! What to do what to do? Idon't wear any underware of course. What does everyone here do?I smear some Lubriderm on the contact area [my butt, not the shorts].Works for me.The same thing happened to me with some $119 PI microsensor shorts. Ididn't find a solution. They are still in a drawer.Are these lycra shorts or baggies? Lycra shorts should not shift or rub. With baggies, you need to try different brands until one works for you. Most serious riders prefer lycra shorts.Saddle sores definitely made me serious. Extremely serious. Grim, in fact. Having thus achieved seriouscyclist status, Lycra delivered the coup de gras and made me a "Real Cyclist (tm)"Had that problem once on some PI bibs. The stitching was stiffer than the pad or the lycra until after several washings, then the chafing stopped and they became my favorite shorts (until they were stolen while I was showering in a campground in the middle of a long tour -- glad I carry two pairs of shorts when I'm touring!).
LINEN SHORTS : The June issue of Allure, in its article about different shorts styles thissummer, showed a pair of slim, above-the-knee shorts by Michael Kors ($395)on a model, as well as a Narciso Rodriguez pair ($785). Has anyone seen amore affordable version of these in real life? I'm guessing that the inseamwould be about 12" on these. The closest thing I've found by searchingonline is a 10"-inseam Bermuda short at J. Crew (nicely priced at $9.99 onsale). I didn't see anything similar online at Banana Republic or Gap.I'm tall, so I think these might look okay on me. (The Allure article saysthey work best on tall women and can be slimming to the thighs and hips ifworn in a dark color.) I'm don't want to wear really short shorts thisyear, as I don't feel they suit me very well. I don't mind shorts with a~7" inseam for going to the beach or pool, but I'd prefer a longer short foraround-town wear at this point in my life.Yes, I bought an above-the-knee pair of cotton/linen shorts in dusty pinkfrom agnes b. in Paris recently. LINEN SHORTS : They are not thin linen shorts, rather they are made from slightly heaviermaterial so you don't have to worry about your underwear showing through. Ithas a matching cotton lightweight jacket which I wear with other pieces. Itried to find the link on the agnes b. online store but it's not there.I generally also like the look of longer shorts - they make me look eventaller, for some reason. I have one ancient pair of white denim shortsthat hit right above the knee that I still love (probably, because I gotthem in college 15 years ago and they still fit!). These ancient onesare from the Gap, as I recall. Have you tried looking at Liz Claiborne stuff? I think I recall seeinglonger shorts in her stuff, although I find them a tad "older" lookingso I don't know if they would work.I always do, just because I think shorter shorts either look slutty orunkempt...or on some women they can ride up and look downright gross. Also, for anyone with not-so-perfect legs, short shorts don't lookgood. My legs are probably one of my best assets, but I still likethem longer. Always have (and I'm only 5'4"). I have a hard timefinding them - thanks for the J.Crew tip.
