LADIES SHORTS : This means that the best we can hope for is two hours of each "event"(by which I mean: each of the three short programs, the compulsories,the ODs, the three long programs, the free dances, the exhibitions). Andthat doesn't include commercials or "profiles."Adding about 45 minutes of ads and weepy "profiles" to those two hours,we get about an hour and 15 minutes each of coverage. That equates toabout 10 short programs each for the pairs, men and ladies; maybe 14compulsory dances; about 10 ODs; and about 7 or 8 long programs/freedances in each discipline (will we not get to see anything other thanthe last group of skaters, plus any stray Americans? I fear so).Of course, this is a generous estimate. It does not allow any more timefor ads or weepy profiles/"amusing" side trips than 45 minutes per 2hours. If we get more, we get more.(Note: I have not included the nightly "highlights" shows in thisestimate, as I am sure we can bet these will consist entirely of rerunsof already-shown things and will not include anything new.)
LADIES SHORTS : Heather's schedule lists nothing regarding possible daytime weekendcoverage for skating. However, I find it hard to believe that NBC willnot be having Olympic coverage on the weekends during the day. Maybe itwouldn't hurt to scan the coverage even on days when skating is notscheduled "just in case." And of course, there's always the chance tocatch an interview with a skater, or a summary of the skating thus far,at such times.10 pairs shorts (including both American pairs)7 or 8 pairs longs (last group, plus any Americans who didn't make thelast group)14 compulsory dances (7 of each of the two dances--that means the top 5couples plus the two American couples)10 men's shorts (including all 3 American men)10 ODs (the top 8 couples, plus the 2 American couples--if youdesperately want to see Drobiazko & Vanagas, this may be your first chance)7 or 8 men's long programs (including all the Americans, wherever theymay be)7 or 8 free dances (the top six or so, plus the American couples)10 ladies' shorts (including all 3 Americans)7 or 8 ladies' long programs (the 3 Americans and five others, assumablythe ones nearest the top--i.e., the last flight and maybe two more skaters)Maybe 14 or so exhibitions (medalists from each discipline, and maybe acouple more skaters either asked because they were 4th or because theyare entertaining--or maybe none of them--just encores from medalists)
LADIES SHORTS : Ok... I am so sick of running and spending half my time grabbing my shortsor tights or whatever...in an effort to keep them from riding up, fallingdown, or entering areas they don't belong. I am at a loss.I have some nice shorts with liners - but those ride up, I have some nicecapri running tights from Road Runner, but until I get sweaty those tend tofall down. The only shorts I love to run in are those clingy stretchy thighlength things, but... they make my less then slender thighs look immenselyfat (yes... vanity does play a role here...do we really only run forhealth?).Has anyone had huge successes with a particular brand or type of runningshorts/tights? Liner/no liner? I was convinced that I must just be a hugegiant fat runner, but... I'm not. I can't figure out if I'm buying thewrong stuff or if running clothes are just made for the very slender. Inthe world of running I'm probably a slender Clydesdale....Any suggestions or experiences that you lady runners have had with clothingwould be appreciated. I can't afford to keep spending money on clothes thatare distinctly uncomfortable. And somehow, yanking your shorts up, down orout just detracts from what would otherwise be a wonderful run... andprobably isn't a pretty sight for passing motorists....
LADIES SHORTS : Join the club! I spend most all of my day fighting the same urges.The ultimate solution is to run naked at the nude beach with me. Otherwise, youhave a unique problem that requires a unique approach, I'd suggest sending me apic of your bottom to *evaluate*, and a pair of your dirty shorts forinspection.I run in size small cotton men's boxers. They are baggy, too baggy to ride up,but not enough to fall off, they are cheap and readily available, they just getsweated in and then tossed in the wash anyway, they are available in a varietyof colors.... :)I pair them with cheap cotton tank tops. The only thing I spend any real moneyon are the shoes and the running bra - cheap won't cut it there!For cold weather, cotton sweatpants and long sleeve tees - here in Florida itnever gets cold enough for more than that, although when I lived in Idaho I'djust layer more clothes and peel off as needed on the trail.
LADIES SHORTS : Are the rebroadcasts of Europeans (yesterday) and 4Cs (today) cutting outanyone from the original broadcasts? I remember seeing Vanessa Gusmeroli'slong in the original but it wasn't around for the rebroadcast. I missed partof the dance - did they cut Lobacheva/Averbukh? I was hoping they would beshowing more than before (since I missed two of the four original broadcasts),but I am fearing that they're showing less.Interesting note: my father came down to watch the end of Europeans, and Iended up explaining the term "chack" to him. He says, "this is all broadcastlive, right? So sometimes this chacking is accidental?" I laughed. No Dad,Europeans was in January. Told him about the merciless chacking of pairs fromJunior Worlds. And even more funny - Mens and Pairs (or is it Dance?) Finalsfrom Worlds won't be broadcast until a week later. So much for changing venuesbecause of lousy TV contracts - didn't improve at all!!!Well, seeing as how all they showed before of the dance was the winners,they actually showed more of them. But not as many as you wanted.
