COMPRESSION SHORTS : Like jocks, don't get me wrong.....think they are hot, but if I doing what I am doing ....don't work for me.The boys like being supported and held tight! Jocks must be made more for contact sports.I do say long live the jock.....but spandex and compression shorts have their purpose too!Tried both and the jock is much more comfortable. My brothers all tried thecompressions short and all went back to wearing a strap. The only thing badabout a strap is when you are wearing white shorts or some other color that youcan see through.You can usually see the leg straps of jocks through the uniforms of anyAmerican football teams with white pants. One would think they wouldgo with compression shorts unless there was a definite player preferencefor the jock straps. I doubt that cost is a factor. Score 1 for jockstraps.What's bad about that?Personally I like it when I can see either the outline or the color of thestrap showing through -- IT'S HOT!
COMPRESSION SHORTS : Does anyone know if compression shorts are supposed to replace thejockstrap or are you supposed to wear a jock with or without a cup withcompressions. The compression shorts I have seen don't have a definedpouch and so are not as comfortable in the crotch as a jock.I don't know if this is the "correct" way, but I wear compression shortsw/o my jock. They seem to provide enough support and allow others a niceview of my stuff. Although I will wear my strap with them when I'm"seasoning" my jock for someone.Most days while I was attending the university, I bicycled the 2 1/2 milesto school. I'd generally bring sweatpants I could pull over the compressionshorts, for wear through most of the day, but often I'd get to my 8:00class just in time or a minute late. It was pretty comical walking intoclass with my 6 3/4 inches stuffed into a tight-fitting pair of Bikecompression shorts. Not too many said anything, but the looks on certainpeople's faces were priceless. There's nothing they could do, since Iwas "legally" covered up enough.

They'redesigned to fit tight, and are usually made of lycra and nylon with otherfabrics. They can reduce the chance of serious muscle pulls as well asimprove performance.Plain old compression shorts are worn in basketball (and are the biggestreason those damn shorts have gotten so damn long, to cover them). Theyare also made with a cup pocket for baseball, lacrosse, paintball, etc.You can also get them with padding or extra layers of materialon the sides for sliding in baseball, with or without cup pocket. Finallyanother variant has pockets for hip, thigh, and tailbone pads and they'reused in football.
COMPRESSION SHORTS : To get back to the original question, I wear a jock underneath for thevery reason described; ifI need a cup, I wear ones that have a pocket for one (rather than a cupjock with shorts over it,which is a pain if you just want to take the cup out and put it backlater.)I have been looking for compression shorts that are my size. You see, I am avery small man (24" waist) and I wondered if anyone out there might be ableto help me.You should be able to find them at most big sporting goods stores. The youth sizes should fit you: there's lots of baseball players your size. I have a question for the experts out there. I just bought a pair of Bikecompression shorts with cup pocket. I am very diappointed in them because ofthe cup placement. It came with a Bike banana cup, but the cup pocket doesntlet the cup go down far enough and my balls hang out under the cup. Doesanyone make a compression short with cup that is properly designed so thecup is held snug and down far enough so your balls are actually protected?
COMPRESSION SHORTS : Surely if you are encasing your thighs in tight fitting attireone of your largest muscles cannot get rid of the heat evolved.Just curious.The heat created by wearing compression shorts is small compared to theheat from the friction burn I get trying to run in running shorts. Mybigger thighs won't allow me to run in running shorts. I've tried lubesbut they wear off and then I'm stuck in the middle of my run withserious friction burns on my inner thighs that keep me from running fora couple days. Thank God for Spandex or I wouldn't be able to run.hi.try nylon/synthetic material running shorts.i used to have the same problemwith friction burns,i switched to those types and the burns havent returned !Your right - its too hot for me in the summer. But they are nice inusltorsfor moderately cold weather- 20-40 degrees for me, before going to fulllength pants.
