BASKETBALL SHORTS : In 7th grade a wore basketball shoes to train in for track.In 8th grade a bought a pair of cheepo running shoes made by Voit.Now I wear $80 Nikes...Until two years ago I ran in basketball shorts, thinking there was no reasonto buy those expensive, short-cut, girly-looking, running shorts.Now I wear the short-cut, girly-looking, running shorts and am proud of it.They are easier to run in and help identify me as a runner - before a racelast weekend I heard people saying things like "they must be real runners,they have running shorts and glasses on" in reference to a friend and I.They were right, we got 1st and 2nd. 2 minutes back was 3rd and he waswearing basketball shorts.During the winter I scoff at those that feel they need the fancy, high-techfabrics and such to keep them warm. I stay nice and toasty (on most days)with my cotton t-shirts and fleece. I course I also am forced to wear about5 pounds more clothing because I have to wear about 3 layers. I have yet todo the CoolMax thing, mostly because when it gets hot enough for me to startsweating I don't where a shirt, but am sure I will start someday.
